Zhen Ren is an ancient Chinese Taoist term used to refer to a person of virtue or high moral standing. It also describes someone who is “natural” or “unchanged” in the face of disruptive circumstances. Chuan most often translates to “fist” or “physical manifestation”. Used in this specific context it means “art”. Hence, the three characters of Zhen Ren Chuan translate to: The Art Of The Natural Human Being.
Zhen Ren Chuan is a martial and healing arts system that offers a complete education in the study of the human mind and body. It encompasses correct and well balanced exercises, movements and forms that date back hundreds and thousands of years. The core of Zhen Ren Chuan’s movement and philosophy comes from the arts of Baguazhang, Chinese Shaolin / White Crane Gong Fu (Kung Fu), Taiji (Tai Chi) and Qi Gong (Chi Kung). Also included in the full curriculum are Chinese Chin Na, Judo / Jujitsu and traditional Chinese and Japanese weaponry. Sparring, Iron Palm and Iron Body training are available to our more advanced students who have developed the proper foundations, skills and discipline.
This ancient knowledge and wisdom is passed down from instructor to student in a special multi-level sequence balanced for each individual, regardless of age, past experience or physical fitness. Each session is designed to give specially individualized attention addressing the specific needs and goals of each student. This type of education is directly applicable, not just inside the practice room, but in every single area of the student’s daily life.
The first stages of training will include many introductory exercises and movements from the Taiji (Tai Chi), Qi Gong (Chi Kung), Baguazhang and Kung Fu Martial Arts for overall development of body control, balance, coordination, timing, speed, strength, flexibility and mental focus. Once the student begins to absorb the foundational benefits of the more linear, external movements, deeper internal benefits will begin to be fully absorbed through the breathing control, whole body use, twisting, coiling and circular movements inherent in these arts.
Through the correct practice of Taiji, Bagua and Kung Fu martial arts the practitioner learns to use their entire body in every movement. One becomes more flexible, resilient and elastic in nature with the ability to jump, spin, twist, coil, and move in any direction at any given moment. The body moves as light as feather but with the strength of a bear. The practitioner will be able to increase and regulate the internal energy (Chi) as well as develop overall health and an advanced level of self defense ability. Improvements in mental clarity, increased self awareness, self confidence and concentration are also results from this training. Practitioners develop a calm, relaxed, stress-free mind and an increased level of mind and body unity.
We are located at 301 Broadway in Arlington, MA. offering adults evening or afternoon lessons during the week. We are closed on Sunday. We also have children’s programs available to suit various age groups and skill levels.
