"Zhen Ren Chuan is a place where I have gained strength and have pushed myself to places I wasn’t sure I’d be able to go. After going to the gym for months and not quite seeing the results I wanted I was looking for something else to add to my routine. I found Zhen Ren Chuan while walking around Arlington center after meeting Instructor Charles for an introductory lesson I could see the benefits early on that this could have on the body and mind. I’ve found when I go to a class here that it really helps me clear my mind of anything that might of been bothering me from my day beforehand. Doing martial arts helps you stay present and when you leave class your mind feels cleansed of whatever was stressing you out. You forget all about it because you’re focused on your body and the task at hand. In the fast paced world we live in I think practicing martial arts is a great way to help you maintain a balance in your life. As someone who has never done any martial arts training like this before I’ve also really appreciated the patience of instructor Charle and his staff. I’ve learned a lot in the first few months training here it hasn’t come without it’s challenges though I have had a lot to work on with body control but Instructor Charles is great at breaking down movements and will keep working with you and pushing you until you get them. My advice to any student starting out would be to give yourself time to overcome any challenges you have at the beginning with body control. Don’t beat yourself up over it. Everyone struggles with this at first to an extent some more then others. Patience and persistence are key if you want to see the improvements and results your seeking. It won’t happen overnight but I’ve found I have small breakthroughs every time I go to a class and those add up to bigger changes in your body control over time. I have seen major improvements in my balance and flexibility and have lost a significant amount of weight in the 3 months I’ve been studying at Zhen Ren Chuan. It’s a inspiring place to learn and grow both the teachers and fellow students are fantastic to work with."

"I am completely happy with my experience at Zhen Ren. Instructor Charles has been so patient and thorough in my training. He makes every class demanding and fun at the same time. In the five months that I have been at Zhen Ren, I'm noticeably healthier, happier, more focused and less stressed with the demands of my very busy life. My only regret is that I didn't start training at Zhen Ren sooner. Also, Instructor Charles is really great with kids. Both of my children are also enrolled at Zhen Ren and they thoroughly enjoy their classes with him. It is amazing how Instructor Charles captures the children's attention as well as providing a great source of motivation. I cannot stress enough how every aspect of my life has improved since training at Zhen Ren. All the best, Chris"

"How Zhen Ren Chuan Training Has Affected My Life I have gained self confidence. Now I don't let people who are mean to me, get to me. Also, I used to get mad all the time, but since I learned Sea Turtle Breathing I use it to calm myself down at school and at home. I also use it when I get flustered. I am now part of the Zhen Ren Chuan community, I have made lots of friends in the advanced children’s class and have enjoyed helping other people through the food drive. I really enjoy being a part of this community. Will Schwartzman"

"I had played varsity basketball in high school and had a year of Taekwondo in college. 4 years ago, I was approaching 50 years old and becoming too good at sitting in a chair. My wife had recently signed me up for Tai Chi at the YMCA. It whetted my appetite, but once a week wasn't enough. After seeing an open-house demonstration at Zhen Ren Chuan, I decided to sign up. Although the program also includes Kung fu, Bagua, Taekwondo, Judo, and weapons, I thought I was only interested in the Tai Chi at first. I didn't see the point of the harder styles, weapons training, or taking tests. I promised myself I'd keep an open mind. I also started my training with the belief that there were certain things I was never going to be able to do well. Being tall, it seemed I would never get as low in my stances as the higher belts, or have a decent side kick, for example. I was surprised at how hard it was to keep up in my first classes. It was inspiring to see the higher belts leading the way, offering advice when needed. Over time, I was amazed to see changes in my strength, endurance, and mental acuity. Instructor Charles' presentation and practice of each style informed and reinforced the other styles in ways that aren't possible by simple practicing one style alone. Each connection that we discovered deepened our understanding. The rhythm of preparing for the tests and then taking them enhanced the effectiveness of the training. It got me into the habit of practicing on my own as well, preparing me for life ahead. By trying to do difficult forms and finally achieving them, I found my preconceived notions of what I couldn't do falling away. The 'hard' style forms built up my strength and energy level. Weapons taught me how to use my whole body and extend past it. The 'internal', meditative side of the program has helped me remain calm in difficult situations at work, and added balance to my life. I appreciate Instructor Charles' creative and extensive efforts, tailoring each class to the students needs. While the program requires great effort, I felt I got at least as much out of it as I have put into it."
